Network of Orthodox and Eastern Churches in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland

We are pleased to share the revised version of the Vision and Mission Statements following the collective edits agreed upon during our recent gathering.

Vision Statement

To witness together to the Apostolic Faith of Christ as preserved in the Eastern Christian Traditions, fostering visible love, deeper understanding, and united service among our Churches that belong to the Eastern Christian Traditions.

Mission Statement

The Network of Orthodox and Eastern Churches in the United Kingdom & Ireland exists to:

  • Deepen fraternal relations amongst leaders of the Orthodox and Eastern Churches through regular dialogue, prayer, and encounter.
  • Strengthen mutual understanding of our theological, liturgical, and pastoral traditions, honouring both our shared heritage and our distinct ecclesial identities.
  • Discern opportunities for collaboration in pastoral care, youth ministry, education, charitable ministries, and public and vocational witness.
  • Respond together to contemporary challenges facing our faithful, especially in diaspora contexts, with wisdom drawn from the Fathers and the living Tradition of the Church.
  • Foster consensus and offer a united voice in society—bearing witness to the Gospel of Christ.

Scriptural Foundations

Acts 2:1
“When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.”

1 Peter 4:10
“As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”

This updated statement reflects the shared commitment of the participating Churches to walk together in faith, service, and witness, strengthening bonds of unity while honouring the richness of our diverse traditions.
